Crown Estate - UK Offshore Wind Map
The Crown Estate manage UK sovereign assets which include the seabed within UK territorial waters (to 12 nautical miles) and rights to support & develop renewable energy resources within the UK's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) through to the limit of the continental shelf. For offshore energy generation by all current and future renewable energy technologies, this area is classified as being the 'renewable energy zone' (REZ).
The website operated by the Crown Estate provides a near real-time estimate of total current offshore wind generation for the UK and compares this with output for other major electricity generation sources. The resource also offers the ability to interrogate individual wind farm generation using an interactive map. Information can be provided in summary form by hovering over animated turbines scaled to represent current generation, whereas selecting a turbine zooms the map to view individual offshore wind-farms providing details including layout, nameplate capacity, current generation, operator, number of turbines, turbine manufacturer etc.
